The Dark Home

As Talander’s eyes adjusted to the blackness of the lava tunnel, Bleak led him down the corridor from the point of their entry with a firm grip on his arm. If the dragon had wanted to bolt, it would have been impossible. Talander’s assistance as a healer was requested, and an oath he had taken long ago prevented his running. A dragon’s oath was binding under any circumstances and his services as healer did not discriminate by race.
The demon wizard’s home fulfilled Talander’s expectations. It was hot, dark, and he could smell a subtlety sulfurous order in the air. The great wizard kept his opinions to himself as they entered a birth chamber. He wondered if he would have survived the trip had he been human—being dragon-kind in human form had some small advantages.

Weekend Warriors 5/26/13

Xavier has gone to find his beloved princess…

“It’s Sert,” She finally managed to whisper between gasps, “My brother is dead.” Margo’s voice echoed her pain.
Xavier felt like he was hit by an arrow to the heart. His gut wrenched, his vision swirled and his knees felt weak as he reached out to Margo. Gently grasping her shoulder, he pulled her tightly into an embrace allowing her to cry into his strong shoulder. Xavier lifted Margo’s face to his with a forefinger under her chin and softly kissed her cheek. In that moment her vulnerability made him melt. He had for so long wanted to hold the princess, but not like this, not in grief. The knight stifled his own tears.

Seer 5/23/13

Seer, Book 2 of the Chronicles of Marithe, is written and edited. I am in the process of choosing a cover and will be soon listing it on Good Reads as a pre-release.
I am considering several options for the art and will be posting them on a facebook event to gather your opinions.

This is a story that stands well alone or in company with the first book of the series— again exploring a dual reality. The title is rife with shape shifting dragons, kings, heroes and villains and is a story near to my heart.
An underlying theme of betrayal and prejudice is threaded through the mesmerizing tale of a gipsy queen. I hope that you will join me as I trace the steps in preparation for the release of Seer.

Sneak Peek/ Weekend Warriors 4/21/13 (fromSeer)

Xavier woke with a hangover and no memories of the previous night. He frowned against the brightness of the captain’s cabin. The three women stretched out naked— half covered by blankets on the bed— were still asleep. It seemed a good time to make his exit. Xavier had no idea of his innocence or guilt, but if there were consequences he wanted out. The cook-hand of the Dorianne wanted no part in trouble, and he had seen more than his share of ‘circumstances.’ Xavier slid soundlessly to the floor. His clothes lay in a heap by the foot of the bed. Stopping only long enough to don his pants, he slipped silently out the door.
